Lambing Season

Lambing season has been underway at Cedarview Farms for quite some time now and we went for a little visit recently. So much wool in our future. What an exciting time of the year:

Look at those sweet little twins warming under the heat lamp?
A suffolk lamb, so stable on its feet.
Olivia loved feeding this mama sheep.
Just can't get enough of these precious lambs.

Online Store Update

You will notice some changes to our website. For the first six months of LWP Online, we used an online store service. After reviewing the use of it compared to the cost of it, we noticed that the majority of customers are still choosing to place their orders via email or phone, so to save costs, we have closed the online shopping feature and will continue to meet your luxury wool product needs via email and phone call orders.

At the top of this screen, you will see a list of links to the various luxury wool products we have available.  Simply click the product you are interested in, for further detail and place your order via email or phone:

At this time payments accepted are:

Interac e-transfer sent to

We are looking into PayPal as another option as well and will let you know when that is up and running.

A Tour

It's been a lot of fun turning our guest room into the Luxury Wool Products office.
Won't you come by for a virtual visit?

The 'Product Corner'. I keep all of the wool batting stored in the closets in this room, but find inspiration in keeping the smaller products and a few wool batts out on display.

I package the dryer balls so they are ready to go, but when they need a few days to dry all the way through to the core, before packaging, they make their home in this wicker basket, or a vintage egg basket:

And here is the shipping and packaging corner. All supplies ready at my fingertips.

Having Olivia's crib quilt (hand quilted by my mom) displayed warms my heart.

So, there you have it.
The place where your Luxury Wool Products are prepared and sent out with much love.

Christmas Time's A Comin'

With the Christmas season upon us, I am already thinking of gifts to share with my family and friends. Are you planning on quilting someone an heirloom gift? Our batting is up to 25% off until December 15th! It is so soft, lofty, and luxurious. Sure to keep you warm this winter.

Are you looking for the perfect gift for your child's teacher, or for a colleague at work? Why not try our Luxury Felted Wool Soaps? We have the plain natural wool soaps, the ones with dyed wool accents, as well as our alpaca wool wrapped soaps.

A gift that many a teacher has appreciated is a set of wool dryer balls:

Teacup pin cushions for those of you who have friends and family who love to sew. And if you're in love with the mason jar look, we also have you covered:

Caring for Your Luxury Wool Products

People often wonder what the best way is to care for and launder their products made of our wool. Here are our recommendations:

Laundering Quilts and Blankets Made of Luxury Wool

Our wool is not treated with chemicals, therefore it is cared for more carefully.  The wool, once in a quilt or blanket, can be placed in a tub that you have filled with warm water and a mild detergent FIRST, and left to soak for about a half an hour. Once it has soaked, rinse with warm water and ring out as best as you can. Line dry on a windy day, if possible, or lay flat to dry. Instead of placing the blanket in a tub of water, you may also place it in a top loading washing machine that you first filled with warm water. Let soak for half an hour. Once it has soaked, turn to the spin cycle and spin it out. DO NOT allow it to agitate. This would felt the wool, causing it to ball up and shrink. Once the spin cycle has completed, you can hang your quilt to dry on the line on a windy day, or lay it flat to dry.

NO automatic dryer or front loading washing machine should be used. Tumbling in the washer or dryer will shrink and felt your wool.

Regular use of a duvet cover will eliminate the need of frequent cleaning of your wool duvet. Airing your quilt or blanket out in the sun on a windy day will lessen the need for frequent cleaning.  Shrinkage is an absolute minimum - approx. 2-3% - not noticeable when washed according to instructions.

Wool Pillow Care

Because our wool is not treated with chemicals, our pillows are not washable. You cannot apply heat or tumble dry our pillows as this will cause the wool to felt, causing it to clump, also reducing the loft. When you get out of bed each morning, shake the pillow to restore the wool loft. You should also regularly air the pillow pillow outside on a sunny and breezy day. This will give the wool a chance to dissipate any water in the wool fibers. The sun is a natural sanitizing agent as well. We strongly recommend using a pillow cover in addition to a pillow case to help protect your pillow, giving it a longer life.

New in the Store

It's been fun finding new product ideas to add to our online store.

We now have mason jar felted wool pin cushions available. I've really been loving using mine this past week. Our fantastic pin cushion has multi-uses.  Not only will the lanolin in the wool help keep your needles sharp, the wool keeps the needles from corroding and rusting. The storage area in the base of the jar is a perfect place to keep small sewing accessories.

Should you have pets or small children, the needles can be stored in the underside of the pincushion and once closed will be hidden.
